I think the correct answer for Alonso is:
Boss: “Alonso, what are you doing?”
Alonso: “I’m compiling”
Alonso is talking about the computer (blaming it)
The Programmer’s original language is correct. My change below is really only for taste. However, “I’m compiling” isn’t really correct, since the computer is the one compiling, not the Programmer. I often see folks on this site correcting the Programmer’s English when it’s clear that they themselves don’t speak the language very well. Unless you’re *sure* I would respectfully suggest you refrain from correction.
